Escape to the Hills

Distant from the echoes, where monotonous routines reside
Away from repetitions, where tasks collide
A ray of hope arose behind giant bollards,
When skin felt the hilly sunlight
Switches between warmth, wind and sometimes rain
Gazing at stars, an escape from the inevitable pain
Trees, sun and altitude eased the inner turmoil,
Dissolved all the knots, gifted relief from strain
Warm, pleasant fire acted as a shield,
Protected from bone-chilling nights aiming to freeze,
Pulled away the haunting thoughts - the anguish from inside,
Mind was clear, could only feel a constant breeze
From trees uphill, could hear the Ravens
Right at the top, it felt like a haven
Freedom was felt, the calmness within amplified
Deep inside heart, escape to the hills was engravened
